Long Beach Airport ATCT & Base Building Modernization

Long Beach, California

Advanced Construction Testing (ACT) provided third-party building envelope testing services in support of the Long Beach (LGB) Airport Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) and Base Building Modernization project in Long Beach, California.

The project included modernization of the existing ATCT and base building, with exterior systems including EIFS cladding, metal panels, windows, metal storefront, and concrete (including storefront replacement at the base building).

ACT’s scope included integrated and first-installation mockup testing—water penetration testing (ASTM E1105), pull-off strength testing of adhered air barriers (ASTM D4541), and sealant durability testing (ASTM C794)—as well as expansion joint mockup testing using ASTM E1105 and AAMA 501.2 water spray testing.

ACT also provided infrared (IR) scanning of TPO roofing to support evaluation of potential trapped moisture, with reporting that included thermographic and photographic documentation of identified wet area profiles.
